In-person birth and early parenting education classes

Monash Health provides group education classes for pregnant women (and their partner or support person) who are booked to give birth at one of our Monash Health hospitals.

Note: These in-person group education sessions are fee paying. The length of the classes and the costs are detailed on the individual flyers.

Childbirth education classes

Childbirth education classes are held at the hospital on a weekend day (either a Saturday or Sunday depending on the hospital).

Preparing for Birth

Topics that may be included:

  • Signs of labour and birth
  • Progress of labour and birth
  • Support in labour
  • Practical coping methods during labour
  • Medical options for pain management
  • Assistance with birth

Preparing for Baby

Topics that may be included:

  • Care in the hospital
  • Understanding breastfeeding
  • Early parenting transition
  • Safety around the home
  • Communicating with your baby
  • Community support for the family

Hypnobirthing classes

Hypnobirthing classes are held on a weekend day at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, and on a Tuesday evening at Sandringham Hospital.
