Explore our research

To continue to build knowledge and understanding on OVB practices and outcomes, we will continue to collect data that evaluates the value of the bundle through our collaboration with Victorian maternity services implementing the bundle in 2025–2026.

The roles of maternity services

Participating maternity services will share de-identified data with Monash Health for analysis. This data will generate important insights into factors influencing uptake, clinical practices, adverse events and staff experience of implementation across maternity services.

During the implementation phase, teams at participating services will be invited to collect data on:

  • Bundle uptake
  • Staff feedback
  • Clinical outcomes

This information will help guide local adaptations, ongoing refinements and continuous improvement to the bundle as well as adaptations to the implementation strategy to optimise uptake and efficacy.

After successfully implementing the bundle services will be invited to continue to contribute data for 12 months to monitor maternal and neonatal outcomes, as well as assess clinical impact and staff experience.

Safer birthing future

This initiative represents a significant step towards transforming the safety culture and quality of operative vaginal birth practices across Victoria, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based care and continuous improvement.
